Role purpose
As a Senior Specialist – Accounting & Taxation, you will be responsible for leading and managing the organization’s direct tax, indirect tax (GST), and financial reporting activities. You will drive compliance excellence, establish robust tax controls, and ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements across the company and its group entities. The successful candidate will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to provide tax advisory support, manage audits and assessments, identify tax risks, and ensure accurate financial reporting. This position will be responsible for driving tax compliance, supporting business initiatives from a taxation perspective, and strengthening governance and control frameworks. The focus will be on direct tax, GST, financial reporting, reconciliations, audits, and business partnering, in line with Accelya’s global business strategy, values, and mission.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Independently manage Income Tax and GST compliances for the company and its group entities.
- Oversee Income Tax return filings, audits, assessments, and related regulatory requirements.
- Manage GST return filings, assessments, appeals, audits, and refund applications.
- Establish and maintain effective controls and compliance processes for transactions impacting direct and indirect taxes.
- Identify tax risks and recommend mitigation strategies to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Perform regular reconciliations between tax records, statutory returns, books of accounts, and government tax portals.
- Support internal and statutory audits by providing tax-related data, documentation, and analysis.
- Provide taxation guidance on new business initiatives, customer agreements, vendor contracts, and intercompany transactions.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external advisors during tax assessments and audits. ·
- Prepare and review financial statements, ICFR documentation, and intercompany accounting transactions. ·
- Manage Transfer Pricing (TP) assessments and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. ·
- Support business and finance teams with tax reconciliations, reporting, and compliance-related queries. ·
- Collaborate with stakeholders to drive continuous improvements in accounting, reporting, and tax processes.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 6–10 years of relevant experience in Direct Tax and GST. ·
- Proven experience in independently managing tax compliances, assessments, audits, and reconciliations. ·
- Strong knowledge of Indian Income Tax regulations, GST laws, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements and accounting records.
- Exposure to Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and intercompany transactions.
- Experience handling tax assessments, audits, appeals, and regulatory interactions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and coordination abilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and reconcile large datasets
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- Experience working with Dynamics 365 (D365) ERP systems.
- Exposure to multinational or group company tax environments.
- Experience in Transfer Pricing compliance and assessments.
- Knowledge of process improvement and automation initiatives within finance and tax functions.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
