Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Documentation Specialist to own the customer-facing documentation experience for Amtech's ERP and MES products. You will be the person who turns complex manufacturing workflows — estimating a corrugated order, scheduling a corrugator run, tracking WIP through conversion, closing the loop to invoicing — into documentation our customers actually use and trust.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You will write and maintain user guides, in-application help, release notes, and how-to content; you will also set the standards, style, and structure that all Amtech product documentation follows. You will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Implementation, and Support, and you will be expected to learn our customers' world — the plant floor, the order lifecycle, the way a packaging manufacturer actually operates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Documentation ownership

  • Plan, write, edit, and maintain the full library of customer-facing documentation for Amtech's ERP and MES products, including user guides, configuration and administration guides, quick-reference materials, and in-application help.

  • Own the release notes process end to end — partner with Product and Engineering each release cycle to capture what changed, why it matters, and what customers need to do about it.

  • Audit existing content on a regular cadence; retire what is stale, rewrite what is unclear, and close gaps that show up in support tickets and customer feedback.

Standards and structure

  • Establish and enforce a documentation style guide, terminology standards, and content templates so that everything Amtech publishes reads as one voice.

  • Define and improve the information architecture of the help center — how content is organized, searched, versioned, and navigated across product lines and releases.

  • Administer and improve the documentation toolchain and publishing workflow; recommend improvements to tooling, single-sourcing, and reuse.

Collaboration and subject-matter expertise

  • Partner with Product Managers, developers, QA, implementation consultants, and support engineers to gather source material, validate technical accuracy, and get ahead of upcoming releases.

  • Use the product yourself. Build a working understanding of packaging manufacturing operations and of how Amtech customers configure and run the system in production.

  • Participate in release readiness and go-to-market planning to ensure documentation ships alongside the software, not after it.

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to document AI-enabled capabilities as they ship, making new intelligence features understandable and trustworthy to customers.

Quality and measurement

  • Define quality standards for documentation and review the work of other contributors — writers, product managers, and engineers who contribute content.

  • Track documentation effectiveness using search analytics, page performance, support ticket deflection, and direct customer feedback; use that data to prioritize the roadmap.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualification

  • 6+ years of professional experience in technical writing, product documentation, or technical communications, with a substantial portion producing customer-facing content for a software product.

  • Demonstrated experience documenting enterprise software — ERP, MES, supply chain, or comparable operational systems.

  • A portfolio of published documentation you can walk us through, showing how you explain complex, multi-step workflows to a non-technical operational audience.

  • The ability to take an engineer's explanation of a feature and turn it into instructions a plant scheduler can follow on the first read — precise, plain, and logically sequenced, with no step assumed.

  • A rigorous eye for editing: you cut what is unnecessary, catch inconsistent terminology, and hold a large content library to one standard.

  • Proven experience owning documentation standards — style guides, templates, terminology, and information architecture — not just executing against someone else's.

  • Hands-on experience with a component content management or help-authoring platform — MadCap Flare, Paligo, Heretto, Document360, Zendesk Guide, Confluence, or comparable — including publishing, versioning, and single-sourcing across product lines.

  • Proficiency with screen capture and image editing tools for clear, consistent visual documentation.

  • Comfort working directly with software: navigating a complex application, reading a spec, testing a workflow, and validating your own instructions against the product.

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent releases and competing priorities with minimal supervision.

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, Information Science, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience documenting ERP and/or MES platforms, especially in a manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with packaging, corrugated, folding carton, label, or other discrete or process manufacturing operations.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and business concepts such as specifications, routings, scheduling, WIP tracking, inventory, order-to-cash, and shop-floor data collection.

  • Experience with docs-as-code workflows (Markdown, Git, static site generators) or structured authoring (DITA, XML).

  • Experience producing video walkthroughs, product tours, or e-learning content alongside written docs.

  • Exposure to API or integration documentation.

  • Comfort using AI tools to accelerate drafting, editing, and content audits — with the judgment to know where human verification is non-negotiable.

  • Interest in structuring documentation for machine consumption as well as human readers, so content can reliably feed in-product AI assistants and search.

  • Experience supporting a global customer base, including localization or translation workflows.

  • Background in a SaaS or hybrid on-premise/cloud software environment with a regular release cadence.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Hybrid role based out of Amtech's Bengaluru office, with roughly three days per week on-site, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Support colleagues across our India and North America teams. Occasional travel for customer site visits, industry events, or company meetings.
