Menlo Security is the leader in Browser Security for human and agentic workforces. Our mission is to enable humans and agents to connect, communicate, and collaborate securely, without compromise. The Menlo Browser Security Platform protects organizations from cyberattacks by stopping threats across the web, documents, and email before they reach the user. With Menlo Agent Runtime Security (MARS), that protection now extends to the AI agents working alongside every employee. Menlo Security is trusted by major global businesses, including Fortune 500 companies and government agencies, to protect their most valuable asset, their data, and is backed by top-tier investors.

Menlo Security is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing development team. In this role, you'll design, build, and operate Menlo services, working closely with product, security, and operations partners to ship reliable, high-performing systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building software in a cloud computing environment and is comfortable owning a feature from design through production. The team uses AI-assisted development tools — including AI pair-programming assistants and AI-assisted code review — as a standard part of the engineering workflow, and you'll be expected to use them to work faster and more effectively.

Outcomes & KPIs

Key Outcome(s) Owned:

  • Reliable, on-time delivery of new features and services that scale with Menlo's distributed platform.

  • Sustained reliability and performance of the services this role owns or contributes to.

Success Metrics / KPIs:

  • On-time delivery of committed features/services against sprint and quarterly roadmap commitments

  • Uptime/availability of owned services (e.g., 99.9%+)

  • Reduction in P1/P2 production incidents tied to owned services

  • Code review turnaround time and PR cycle time

  • Mean time to resolution (MTTR) for production issues in owned systems

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and own new features and services that are key contributors to Menlo's technical roadmap

  • Evaluate and implement development and deployment technologies for API design, highly available and scalable distributed systems, and multithreaded/asynchronous applications with performance and security in mind

  • Build, deploy, and operate core components of the Menlo Security platform

  • Use AI pair-programming and AI-assisted code-review tools to accelerate implementation, generate tests, and speed up review cycles

  • Apply AI-assisted debugging tooling to diagnose issues in distributed systems more quickly

  • Partner with product, security, operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders to align on requirements and schedules

Functional Competencies

Required:

  • 3-4 years of experience in cloud computing or related technical fields, with hands-on backend development in one or more languages such as Python, Go, C++, or Node.js

  • Solid experience with Linux and networking technologies

  • Experience with core AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC) or GCP and standard software development tooling (e.g., Git, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins)

  • Experience with complex data structures, databases, and analytics technologies (e.g., Redis, Postgres, MySQL, Druid)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail and documentation

  • Self-directed and motivated to learn new technologies with minimal guidance

  • BE/B.Tech or Master's degree required

Preferred / Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Linux boot processes, service monitoring, and networking internals (e.g., Tornado, C/C++, Go, systemd, Monit, Bash, cgroups/runc/libcontainer, Docker)

  • Experience adapting and improving engineering best practices such as test-driven development, continuous delivery, and scrum/automation practices

  • Comfortable incorporating AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., AI pair-programming assistants, AI code-review tools) into a modern development workflow

Why Menlo?

At Menlo, we don't settle for the status quo — in our technology or our culture. How we think and act is just as important as what we build. Our culture is defined by five core mindsets: Proactive Leadership, Straight Talk, United Impact, Elevated Talent, and Customer-Compelled. We take ownership and drive outcomes without waiting to be told. We communicate directly and seek hard truths. We break down silos and win together. We hold a high bar for ourselves and the people around us. And we treat every customer interaction as mission-critical. If you're someone who sees it, owns it, solves it, and does it — you'll thrive here.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or on the basis of disability.
